Hydraulic Bursting is highly effective in mass concrete and masonry.

Bursters are hydraulically expanded in predrilled holes causing the material to split and break apart, making removal or further breaking significantly more easy.
Bursting uses hydraulic pressure heads to expand concrete and produce a cracking effect. CVD use 100 and 200 millimetre diameter heads, producing 100 and 200 tons of pressure respectively.
Bursting can be directed towards an open face or a weak spot in the substrate. It significantly reduces remedial breaking and is comparatively silent and free from dust.
